What Does It Mean When a School Has Rolling Admissions?
If you want to continue your education past high school, college, university, or other educational institution you plan to attend might have a hard deadline for applying. For example, some schools require that you apply by January 15 to learn whether you can take classes the following fall. Other institutions — like Ultimate Medical Academy, which offers a variety of healthcare education programs — follow a rolling admissions method of enrollment. But what does this mean?
What Is Rolling Admissions?
With rolling admissions, there is no specific date by which you must apply or enroll to start your desired program. Instead, admissions begins (and continues) whenever you decide to apply, regardless of the time of year. To understand how rolling admissions works, it helps to compare it to a traditional admissions model.
In a traditional model, a school or educational institution sets a deadline by which all prospective students must apply to be considered for admission. Only after that deadline has passed does the school decide whether a prospective student will continue through the admissions process.
This means that if the deadline for admissions is January 15 and you apply on October 15, you’re waiting three months to find out if you can go to that school. With rolling admissions, there is no waiting for a specific date. The process continues to move forward if all necessary requirements are met.
Benefits of Rolling Admissions
Choosing an educational institution that offers rolling admissions can provide several advantages:
- Less time ‘stuck’ in the admissions process. With rolling admissions, your application or enrollment paperwork is processed when it is received versus waiting for a specific date. This can keep you from getting stuck or stalled in the admissions process while waiting for an answer, which can increase your feelings of anxiety and stress.
- Greater flexibility. You aren’t confined to pursuing admissions in your school of choice only at certain times of the year with rolling admissions. Just complete the required paperwork when you’re ready, regardless of the month or day of the year.
- Pursue a career when you’re most excited. Once you’ve decided on a career path, the excitement you feel about your future can make you want to pursue your diploma or degree now rather than later. Rolling admissions provides this opportunity by offering a continual process in which you can take the next steps.
UMA Offers Rolling Enrollment and Rolling Start Dates
Taking healthcare courses at Ultimate Medical Academy (UMA) offers an additional benefit: rolling start dates. Not only do our learners enjoy the advantages of rolling enrollment, but many of our programs also have multiple start dates throughout the year.1
Rolling start dates enable you to choose your best time to start pursuing your healthcare diploma or degree. Ready to start classes now? Enroll to begin your classes at the next possible start date. Or maybe you are incredibly busy at the moment with your children, parents, or work obligations. Being able to start classes at a later date can give you time to take care of your obligations first or to make other arrangements before pursuing your education.
If you still have questions about rolling admissions, rolling enrollment, or rolling start dates, contact UMA. Our knowledgeable and friendly Admissions team is here to provide answers, as well as to help you decide whether UMA is a good fit for you as you pursue your healthcare education.
