Ultimate Medical Academy Hosts Career Fair for Healthcare Jobs in Florida

TAMPA, Fla., May 17, 2013 – Ultimate Medical Academy (UMA) hosted a career fair at its Tampa campus last month, connecting prominent local and national healthcare employers with over 300 job seekers. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts a 34.5% increase in jobs within the category of healthcare support occupations from 2010 to 2020; the largest percentage of growth among all major occupational groups.1 UMA’s allied healthcare training prepares students to enter this growing field, and students enjoy the convenience of networking with prospective employers on campus through these events.

The event on April 18th attracted both students and alumni of UMA’s healthcare education programs. Attendees had the opportunity to meet and interview with employers including CVS, Coast Dental, HCA, Visiting Angels, Sunshine Pediatrics, Network Synergy, MedCo Data, Florida Orthopaedic Institute and more. UMA’s Director of Career Services, Star Aponte, remarked that the “professionalism and energy was remarkable. We had a tremendous turnout.”

Employers also noted the event’s significance to their recruiting efforts. “UMA has consistently introduced solid candidates to our organization and truly cares for their students and graduates,” said Danielle Oliva from Network Synergy. “The career fair was excellent and offered qualified applicants.”

Andrew Cohen of South Tampa Surgery Center remarked that “everything was organized and executed perfectly. [The career fair was a] great program with excellent candidates.”

“As the Director of Career Services, it is the most gratifying feeling when you receive glowing feedback from employers that our students and alumni were well prepared, professional and enthusiastic,” Aponte said. “It’s even more encouraging to have the attendees and employers share that it was by far one of the best events they’ve attended. We are very excited for our upcoming Regional Career Fair on August 23rd.” UMA will connect students and graduates from their Medical Billing and Coding, Pharmacy Technician, Nursing and other allied health career programs with local employers.

Job fairs are an extension of UMA’s Career Services department. The department maintains connections with a large network of local and national healthcare employers. Career Services Advisors provide UMA students and graduates with job placement assistance, resume creation and interview preparation.
