With 20 years of experience spanning talent acquisition and training, employee engagement and retention, human resources, corporate communications, marketing, and public relations, Misty Brown Fischer plays a pivotal role in the UMA employer brand and talent experience. She brings with her a strategic mindset focused on care-centered leadership; diversity, equity, and inclusion; team member engagement; and professional development.

Prior to joining UMA as Chief People Officer, Fischer held executive roles in global companies providing online education, advertising, and consulting services. While in these high-level positions, she transformed startups into award-winning cultures and fostered turnaround stories for challenged organizations.

Fischer’s leadership efforts have resulted in esteemed designations such as “Best Places to Work” and “People First” awards. Her contributions have fostered progressive workplaces and diverse employee communities while strengthening alignments with companies’ missions.

A Los Angeles native who now resides in Tampa Bay, Fischer is mom to an entrepreneurial teen and two crazy Boston terriers, and wife to her best friend. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, fitness, wine collecting, vintage furniture shopping, and playing foodie.

Fischer holds a Master of Arts in Communication Management from University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from the University of Phoenix. She is also the proud recipient of an advanced wine certification from Wine & Spirit Education Trust.
